Having broken some hundreds of cars over the years there isn't
a nut, bolt, or piece of trim that can't be found at a reasonable
price. Also, those problems that "nobody can solve"
at last have a solution.
Routine services or major work such as engine swaps, clutch replacement,
performance upgrades. Secondhand performance parts such as road
springs, stainless steel exhaust systems, wheels and tyres are
often available.
Whilst the tuning possibilities of these cars are relatively
limited, reliable service and reasonably priced parts are still
available through 5 Alive.
As with the 5 GT all major engine / gearbox / electrical work
can be done here at considerable saving on Renault main dealer
prices and without the worry that someone who really doesn't know
a lot about your car is working on it.
5 Alive has been responsible for many conversions over the years.
Pictured is the most recent engine conversion consisting of a
5 GT Turbo lump inserted into a lowly 1.2 Clio. This has never
been done to a new shape clio before. Many hurdles to be overcome
with a task like this, fitting a 5 Turbo Scorpion exhaust system
and selecting the ideal engine/gearbox mounts. All went well and
the car goes extremely well with no mods to the original 5 Turbo
performance.
Previous Clio conversions have included a 1.8 RSI engine &
running gear into a 1.4 RT for a very satisfied policeman.
5 Alive has over 7 years experience of keeping 5 GT Turbos on
the road. As Renault dealers have long since given up keeping
parts and no longer have the expertise to keep these flying machines
on the road, the only option for the discerning, cost conscious
